Filling up an average car 2 years ago would've cost around 75 pounds in the UK. Now it costs well over 100 because petrol in Britain is the most expensive it's ever been. The national average for a liter of diesel's soared to over 1.43 pounds. The previous peak was during the Libyan conflict last May and it's people at the pumps who are paying the price again. "It's a disaster for motorists and not only are they being stung month after month now by these fuel price rises but there's also a concern that this is going to spread to the cost of everyday items such as food because those transportation costs to get those foods to store will be passed onto businesses and then the consumer", said Miranda Schunke from Green Flag automobile association.
